Candita Shares Her Story
Too often, families in our community are left struggling with the high costs of maintaining a safe and livable home. No one should have to endure freezing winters, poor air quality, or hazardous living conditions
No matter big or small, you can make a real difference when you support our work. A gift to MHET directly supports families most affected by rising energy costs. Together, we can make sure every Hudson Valley household is safe, affordable, and resilient.
Explore the options to give to MHET below:
In 2025, federal decisions have affected our local but mighty organizations. The communities we serve have already been overlooked for far too long and are now facing more barriers that prevent access to a home that is affordable and healthy. Several laws introduced by the administration have eliminated key clean energy credits and incentives, impacting nearly all programs that help make our community safer, healthier, and more affordable. Weatherization, remediation, and home upgrades that make homes safer and more efficient are seeing their benefits cut across the board and solar is becoming increasingly expensive.
Meanwhile, low-income families are struggling to cover upfront costs, and essential supports like HEAP have been postponed while SNAP benefits have disappeared, making it harder for people to pay bills, put food on the table, and stay safe at home.
And that’s why MHET steps in. We work directly with households to make energy upgrades accessible, helping families navigate incentives, coordinate contractors, and close the funding gaps that prevent them from making their homes safe, efficient, and electrification-ready.
We rely on donor support to bridge these gaps, making sure every family in the Hudson Valley has a home that is affordable, healthy, and keeps them protected from climate emergencies.
Every contribution brings us closer to our vision of a Mid-Hudson where healthy, resilient homes and affordable, renewable energy are accessible to all. Together, we can ensure that the clean energy transition is shaped by and for the people who live here. Your support for Mid-Hudson Energy Transition strengthens community ownership and keeps the benefits of clean energy local.

Anne had been relying on small space heaters for two winters after her fossil heating system broke and state programs were unwilling to assist. While she received some funding for insulation through the Weatherization Assistance Program

Thanks to our Home Upgrade Grants, we were able to heat this home this winter with brand new, top of the line, all-electric cold climate heat pumps!
